Note to readers:

Thank y'all for visiting, although our blog is now discontinued, it's not too far fetched to expect another blog from either Kate or I in the next year or two. Until then, happy downloading!

If you have any questions or if there's an album on here that you can't find anywhere else and you've GOT to have it, send me an email at Kingsofsquidma@Gmail.com

While MPP refuses to leak, you can take a listen to a live preview thanks to the folks over at onethirtybpm.com

And if that isn't enough, check out the MPP Leak feed.

But most importantly, stare at that image for a few minutes!

What an album cover eh?

Ages ago on the internet, I found the same design yet with green and yellow colors, and saved it, knowing, one day, that jpg would grow up to be an album cover.

P.S. use your scroll bar to go up and down and watch the little oval things as it moves.

Seemingly somewhat too completely appropriate, I figured I'd post this.

However, now with thanksgiving down, that means I've not even got a month to make my christmas playlist. Once I get it put together all nice, I'll be sure to post it, but until then, this is going to have to do it for you.

One of my favorite bootlegs of theirs, I think it might be the only time I've ever heard Come Closer played live.

Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving!

Sampler #2

I'm actually somewhat not completely weighed down by school right now thanks to turkey break. Therefore, today I compiled a little bit of a sampler similar to the last one, that generally has no direction or theme. These are 22 songs that I really like and encourage y'all to listen to. There's something for everyone, or at least I hope there is.

  3. Little Joy- the Next Time Around
  4. the Music Tapes- Manifest Destiny
  5. J Dilla- Won't Do
  6. My Morning Jacket- Come Closer
  7. Blitzen Trapper- Reno
  8. George Roark- I Ain't A Bit Drunk
  9. the Books- It Never Changes To Stop
  10. the Unicorns- Stop
  11. Dr. Dog- Little Bird
  12. Tortoise- Gamera
  13. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy- No More Workhorse Blues
  14. De La Soul- Me Myself and I
  15. the Flying Burrito Brothers- Hot Burrito #1
  16. Fugazi- Turnover
  17. Harry Nilsson- Without You
  18. Ghostface Killad- Whip You With A Strap
  19. Talk Talk- Ascension Day
  20. Van Dyke Parks- the All Golden
  21. Uncle Tupelo- Moonshiner
  22. M. Ward- From a Pirate Radio Sermon, 1989
Aside from this, Kate's got a mix she's going to upload once she gets back from Florida.

As far as album uploads go, I'm going to try uploading the new Music Tapes a little later today and hopefully this mix inspires a request or two, so either leave a comment or shout in the C box over there --------------->

A reminder to all the folks in the Lexington/Louisville area,

Tomorrow night, y'all gotta come to see the Englishman, the Swells, and most importantly, Will Oldham and the Picket Line.

Tickets are on sale at CD Central for 12$, I just got mine and Kate's, so I assume they are still selling them, though I've been told they might sell out by the end of the day.

Anyway, for the rest of you non-Kantucks, I'm working on a batch of uploads for tonight.

These include, but are not limited to:
Calexico- Garden Ruin (and a re-up of Carried to Dust)
something from the Cap'n Jazz/Joan of Arc scene. (I'm thinking American Football or Owls, but I haven't quite decided yet)
MAYBE the new Ludacris album
and if Merriweather Post Pavillion leaks, I'll post it.

Until it does though, the thread over at ateaseweb will suffice.

Your vote counts!

Hope y'all went out to vote today.

Although the night is young, it seems like Obama is indeed going to capture the presidency, giving hope to all us Americans who don't make 200k+ a year.

I'm gonna try to have this program I'm working on for my class done by tomorrow [a day or two overdue :( ] and I think I'm gonna make a blog post tomorrow with anywhere from two to four albums.

In the meantime, I'd like to take a second to encourage you all to think about music on the radio. Don't get me wrong on this, because I worked a 3-6 A.M. shift for a college radio station this past summer, and I know a thing or two about the whole idea of 'alternative' music, but as of lately, I'm absolutely in love with most of what I hear on the radio.

Lil' Wayne is truly the beatles/michael jackson/elvis/whomever of our age you know? Not that I like to compare anyone to anyone, but he's truly the best rapper alive, and if you do not own it, please go out and buy tha Carter III.

The new T.I. is wonderful as well, and that new song "Chopped and Screwed" by T-Pain and Ludacris has got to be one of the top five songs of this year.

I encourage all of you to take a few moments to set aside any prejudices and break down any barriers you have keeping you from listening to this incredible music.

I consider myself mostly a fan of country music, but truly, most of my favorite music could never be played in the grand ole opry, and that's something I'm glad about.
